I let Aliyah stay home from school today to share a moment that would be forever written in history. As we sat glued to the TV, I tried my best to give age appropriate explanations to what was going on. It really made me wish I retained some of the stuff I learned in junior high social studies, stuff that every American should just know - eek! Aliyah was such a great sport. We set our alarms to wake up at 6 something in the am to make rally posters for the parade. She took notes the whole time and later wrote a report/journal entry on what took place and how she felt about it. I was totally impressed.
I can honestly say that I have never been so hopeful, so inspired, and so PROUD to be an American. And though I realize it will not be change overnight, I am optimistic and confident that we are definitely taking a step in the right direction.
